Miller, Crosby & Miller, P.A. was founded and incorporated in 1985. It’s initial senior partner, Robert T. ("Tommy") Miller, began practicing law in Lakeland as a sole practitioner in 1949. Over the years he served as a City Attorney and was a partner in the firm of Bentley, Miller, Sinder, Carr, Chiles and Ellsworth. Leland Earl Bentley enjoyed a distinguished military career and was a prominent lawyer in Polk County, Florida, for many years. Ned Sinder and Bill Ellsworth parlayed their real estate and law backgrounds into successful development companies. Lawton Chiles became a U.S. Senator and Florida Governor while Bill Carr became a Federal Judge. Tommy Miller continued practicing law and serving his clients in and around Polk County, Florida.

In the 1970's and 1980's, Tommy practiced under the firm name of Miller and Sweat and in 1978, Sam Crosby joined the firm. In 1982, Sam became a partner in Miller, Sweat and Crosby. In 1981, Richard A. Miller joined the firm and in 1985 the firm became known as Miller Crosby & Miller when Rick became a partner in the firm. In 2005 while still in law school, Sozon Vatikiotis clerked for the firm and became a member of the firm in 2006 upon passing the Bar Exam. In October 30, 2007, after practicing law in Polk County for over 55 years, Tommy died.
